SGMW USA is Formed to Distribute Mini-Vehicles in the USA

October 20, 2004 - Sugar Land, Texas, United States of America - SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd, (SGMW) a partnership between General Motors China, Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation (SAIC) and Liuzhou Wuling Automotive Company, Ltd. (Wuling Automotive), will begin exporting vehicles to the United States. The US Distribution company is SGMW USA, a division of China America Distributors Overseas Cooperation, LLC based in Sugar Land, Texas. SGMW occupies land of 790,000 square meters and has more than 4,000 employees.

SGMW USA mini-vehicles will be available at authorized franchised dealers in the USA by March 2004.  The first products to be introduced will be the SGMW USA MiniTruck 800 and MiniTruck 1000.  The MiniTruck's are restricted to off road use in the USA due to EPA and DOT laws.  The primary use of the MiniTruck's will be golf course superintendence's, airport property management and security, construction sites, security companies, university security and maintenance, sports stadiums, hunting, ranching, property management, self storage management, beach patrol, and recreational use.

Starting November 2004, SGMW USA will be signing up licensed franchise dealers for markets in 49 states.  SGMW plans to have 100 dealers by 2006. Cobra Powersports is the exclusive distributor for SGMW USA.
